Scott + Heather | Classic Grey New Orleans Marche Wedding

Uncategorized

Well, this may be the most special wedding I share on the blog. Why, you ask? Because it’s my brother’s wedding! Scott + his amazing bride Heather were married on a dreary spring day in New Orleans. And though the weather was less-than-ideal (and forced them to change the order and location of their ceremony), they didn’t let it bring them down! (They also had the help of Taylor from Weddings Taylor Made, who was well prepared with a plan B!) So they first did their cocktail hour inside Longue Vue House & Gardens, then we all headed to Marche for the ceremony then reception. Some brides would be really upset to have guests see them before the ceremony, but Heather is not your average bride! She + Scott are two people deeply in love and truly were so happy to get married, no matter where or how it took place.I had been looking forward to their wedding for many reasons, but most of all so I could see all my family! I hadn’t been together with my entire immediate family since we moved to LA 4 months prior, so a family reunion was exactly what I needed to ease the homesickness blues. I was honored to be a bridesmaid, my hubby was a groomsmen, and Finley made her debut as a flower girl. And of course, I did their wedding paper story from start to finish. I joke with my brother that he was my most involved groom to date. He has always been a detail-oriented guy, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that he would mull over two different grey paper swatches for several days. But what I also love about my brother is that he was the one (with the help of my mom) assembling these suites. He’s a one-in-a-million guy, and working with him on his wedding was a great reminder of that. They wanted to keep their paper story simple, classic + elegant. These aren’t the first three adjectives that come to mind for Roseville Designs, but it was a fun challenge to design outside my usual aesthetic. We started with their save the dates with soft dove grey ink printed on cotton paper. As a nod to New Orleans, I created a patterned fleur de lis envelope liner that was tucked inside a grey envelope. Yes, you’re seeing more “people pictures” then I usually include on my blog posts, but I have to show off my family (and my little flower girl!). The day after the wedding was perfect weather, so they had a day-after session around the grounds of Longue Vue (which was supposed to be the location of their cocktail hour). Isn’t her dress gorgeous? The best family pic we could get. Finley was obsessed with pulling up her skirt and Layla was a typical toddler who wouldn’t sit still. They heeded my advice and had an unplugged ceremony. (Looking for more advice + details on an unplugged ceremony? Check out my recent blog post!) The ceremony was particularly moving, as my brother-in-law was the officiant, and his words were incredibly thoughtful. My sister and her husband were high school sweethearts, so Matt has been part of our family for a long time. He took his role very seriously! Now onto the invitations! We kept the simple grey and cotton paper from the save the date, and tied white silk ribbon around the suite with an oversized grey wax seal with a fleur de lis. My favorite detail was the magnolia floral liner, which added a touch of color to the suite.Without an unplugged ceremony, this picture may never have happened! (See, hiring me gets you so much more than just pretty stationery!)We incorporated wax seals once again as the table numbers on the escort cards. The menus and table numbers tied into the simple tablescape of clean linens + low florals.

Scott, I hit the jackpot getting you as my brother, and you did as well finding Heather. I love you both so much and can’t wait for all that life brings your way.
