Hailey + Kimia | Rancho Las Lomas Tropical Wedding

Uncategorized

I can’t overstate how much I loved working on Hailey + Kimia’s tropical-inspired wedding at Rancho Las Lomas in Orange County, California. When Anything But Gray Events shared with me their colorful wedding design full of tropical elements + nods to their Mexican and Persian heritage, I was so creatively inspired for their custom wedding invitations + day-of stationery.

Colorful Custom Wedding Invitations

The paper story began with their custom wedding invitation suite. I was inspired by the tile patterns all around Rancho Las Lomas, and I knew we would be incorporating traditional talavera tiles into the wedding as I nod to Hailey’s Mexican heritage. So with that, I created a pattern that was used as a backer card on the invitation. Instead of printing the pattern as a border around the actual invitation card, I printed the invitation text on a separate card, and mounted it onto the backer to create some dimension + depth. It was fresh, exciting + did not break the bank! We added pops of color with the envelopes, and graphic elements like the parrot who lives at the venue!

Colorful Wedding Details

So much of their celebration was about family + friends. Their wedding party was a mix of pals who picked their own outfits within their bright color palette. I love the final result, paired perfectly with colorful + modern bouquets + boutonnieres!

Both sets of parents were celebrating over 30 years of marriage, so their planner + I worked together and surprised them with photo prop signs. It’s those little touches you get when you hire full-service vendors who are wholeheartedly invested in your wedding. We’ll go above + beyond for you!

Custom Wedding Favors + Signage

There were so many fun details at their ceremony + reception! The most amazing item was hands-down the whoopee cushions with a custom illustration done by one of the brides. When their planner asked me if I could have these printed for them, but answer was of course! I always tell couples that I can do most items, and if I can’t I can usually tell you where to go for them. This was the perfect favor when one of the brides is a comedy writer and the other is an actress!

Incorporating Family Heritage Into Your Wedding

That focus on their heritages continued in the ceremony and through the reception. You saw it in the beautiful Mexican candles at the tables, the Sofreh Aghd Persian ceremony traditions, place cards wrapped around talavera tiles, and belly dancers getting guests on their feet! Everywhere you turned at their tropical wedding, there was a colorful + thoughtful detail!

Custom Tropical Day-of Stationery

Their signage had those tropical + colorful details as well, which included a wedding welcome sign, seating chart, signature cocktail menu, and more! The tables had a lot of texture with lace table runners + velvet napkins, so I made sure the overall look of the menus and table numbers was clean yet still bold. And let’s not forget about the amazing floral centerpieces by Winston & Main!

This is why it is so helpful when I get visuals of the table linens and place settings. I know what color needs to be incorporated, where everything will be placed, and how to make the day-of stationery at the table fit seamlessly into the decor.

Sweet Endings

And no fun wedding is complete without a custom cake from Nicole Bakes Cake! She brought in our parrot buddy, the couple’s love of lego, and a big dose of glam with the head-to-toe gold. Rancho Las Lomas is the perfect wedding venue for a beautiful cake, as it can be displayed in front of the blue tile wall in the reception area.

Hailey + Kimia, your wedding was bright, bold + fun. In other words, it was the perfect reflection of your personalities and love for each other! It was such an honor to tell your wedding paper story and work with you from start to finish.. I can’t wait to see where the comedy world takes you, and wish you years of wedded bliss!
