Shutters on the Beach Santa Monica Wedding ABC GLA Event

A couple months ago I was honored to be a sponsor at the Shutters on the Beach Santa Monica Wedding ABC GLA Event! Growing your business in a new market takes effort. I am so grateful for the network of wedding vendors I have in Connecticut where we can collaborate and support each other, but having that group was created over years of work together. The wedding industry is all about connections and growing relationships, so when starting your business or growing it in a new market, it’s important to put yourself out there and say “yes” to opportunities that come your way. So when Holly Gray from Anything But Gray Events reached out to me and asked me to be the paper goods sponsor, I jumped on the opportunity. This event was for the Association of Bridal Consultants in Los Angeles, and what a great crowd! The theme was “Business is a Beach” so I worked with a stellar team of LA wedding vendors (headed by the very talented Sara of Golden Poppy Events) to create a fun, tropical vibe at the gorgeous Shutters on the Beach. This SoCal wedding venue has breathtaking views of Santa Monica beach and the food is impeccable. The first step in design was the logo, highlighting tropical leaves and florals. From there I created menus + signage throughout the event. I loved the mix of bright linens with different patterns from BBJ Linens, paired with the beachy centerpieces created by Wisteria Flowers. Schmoozing + gettin’ in the mix is vital to building and maintaining your business. Yes, Instagram is a great way to get your name out + contact people, but even in the digital world in which we live, real in-person connections are still the best way to make real connections. The highlight was our speaker, Heidi Thompson, talking about how to value your wedding business. She had great insights + tips that I am definitely going to explore once the busy wedding season calms down and I can dedicate more energy to goal planning for 2019!
