Washington DC Industrial Chic Wedding
It's a beautiful day and I'm thrilled to finally share Nancy + Colby's Washington D.C. industrial chic wedding! Nancy is a childhood friend of mine, so it was such a joy to work on her custom wedding paper story, which included copper, greenery, and a slew of thoughtful details! Sadly I could not attend since I had Baby Layla about a week before their big day, so having my paper designs there in my place made it feel like I was still part of their wedding day.We began with a simple photo save the date, adding watercolor greenery touches and a kraft envelope. I always tell my couples that the save the date is a great way to give guests "a peak behind the curtain" of your wedding. This way they get a sense of your wedding style, and it builds up excitement for the invitations and the wedding itself!Their invitations had a copper herringbone envelope liner with a copper foil tag and copper twine. The peach and green tones of the invitation suite were a perfect complement to all the copper touches!Next it was on to day-of paper, which included fun signage, table cards name after "The West Wing" episodes (man, I miss that show!), and simple 2-sided programs. It was really important to them that they create special details with their own hands, which included homemade eggnog at the reception and the cutest hand-painted duck escort cards. But my favorite detail was their "guest book alternative"; three sets of Q&A cards with specific questions about marriage and them as a couple. Traditional guest books often get missed at the reception, and if they are inscribed usually include a bunch of wedding platitudes. Instead Nancy + Colby included specific questions that made guests take a moment to put down something meaningful. I made sure to include my hand-written cards when I shipped them their order, because I loved the idea so much!So scroll down for some pretty wedding eye candy courtesy of Michelle Lindsay Photography, and be sure to check out the full vendor reel at the bottom!
Nancy + Colby, what an honor it was to create your wedding paper story! It's been a joy to know you, and I can't wait to see all that life brings you!
