Ynea + MItch | Modern Tropical Palm Springs Wedding

Weddings

Ynea + Mitch’s Palm Springs wedding was the creative bright spot of the pandemic for me. Designing their tropical gold foil wedding invitations + paper story was a much-needed artistic outlet during lockdown. They opted for a small wedding amongst close friends + family, and took over Dive Palm Springs, a super-sleek boutique hotel. When Ynea first contacted me and introduced me to the space, I was immediately inspired and full of cool ideas for their modern wedding invitations. I mean, look at all this color + retro goodness!

Their color palette was black + white with a rich hunter green and gold accents. Their bridal party looks were this great combination of formal + fresh. The bridesmaids carrying floral bouquet “handbags” was something I had never seen before, and I became a total convert! And who doesn’t love a pup with a greenery collar?

Their wedding paper story began with their custom wedding invitation suite. I played with palm trees for that tropical element, different geometric shapes, and gold foil for that splash of formality. My favorite detail was the “P.S. I Love You” custom envelope liner inside the black mailing envelope, a nod to Palm Springs. The wedding was a whole weekend of events, so we put together a fun graphic timeline so guests knew to be prepared for lots of celebration!

A first look is always a must, in my humble opinion. It may be the only opportunity the whole day that you have just the two of you. And in sharing your wedding day with other people, there’s something to be said for that first reveal being an intimate moment between just the two of you.

Their ceremony was filled with tropical, boho elements, but kept that dash of formality with antique gold chandeliers hanging from the trees. Bur truthfully they didn’t need to add much to the ceremony space, because all the different trees really were its own unique design element. One awesome design piece they DID add was the champagne wall. Guests entered the reception and were greeted by this cool installation and a nice, cold glass of bubbly! It was a focal point for the reception, and I really love when a design piece is both beautiful AND functional.

The rentals were such a great mix of formal + boho, with sleek black tables + rattan chairs. We kept the day-of stationery clean + simple for the most part, but the hexagon menus with the same palm tree pattern from the invitations were a fun focal point at the tables. We displayed one menu per table vs. the traditional menu at each place setting, so the piece was truly part of the decor, nestled in the fun, boho florals. (It’s always a great way to cut down on costs.) If you want more insights into how to use menus at your wedding, my day-of stationery series about menus is a must-read!

Ynea + Mitch, thank you for being such a fun, easygoing, and creative couple. I will always treasure working on your wedding during such a difficult time. I wish you both years full of love + joy!
